Resumo: Dry Needling acts directly on muscle fibers, causing a needle injury, and consequently releases local intracellular potassium. This technique aims to alter the biochemical environment by reducing spontaneous electrical activity within the region. Objective: To systematize bibliographic studies about the effectiveness of Dry Needling in individuals with chronic low back pain. Methods: The searches were performed in the electronic databases Pubmed, MedLine, LILACS, Ibecs. The survey was conducted by two independent researchers evaluating the titles, abstracts and full texts of identified studies, in the period between January and May 2019. Using as Dry Needling descriptors. Backache. Chronic pain. Physiotherapy and its correspondents in English. Analyzed methodologically in the PEDro scale. Randomized clinical trials that used Dry Needling as a treatment in adult individuals with chronic low back pain were included in the study. And we excluded studies that had the technique applied in samples such as corpses, pregnant women, women in labor. Results: The literature shows that Dry Needling is effective in the treatment of low back pain in adults. We found 21 articles, of which 12 were excluded after filtering the clinical trials, and 08 studies after reading the titles and abstracts. Only four articles met the inclusion criteria and were eligible for the study, proving the efficacy of the technique. Conclusion: It is concluded that the technique can be included as another therapeutic modality in the treatment for low back pain. And, a deeper understanding of the subject is needed to provide more scientific evidence with greater reliability in the results
