Resumo: The contemporary world is marked by the accelerated pace of life, where women and men assume different roles and are divided into multiple functions. In this context, conjugality takes a paradoxical aspect, where couples wish to have a conjugal life, appreciating the sentiment at the expense of institutional affiliation. Also occurs a search for high-performance sexual, portrait of a time marked by heightened exposure to sexuality, with easy access to elements of a sexual nature, whether in the media, literature or even in the form of products offered in numerous sex shops. Within this framework, many couples go to the stage of parenting, in which women and men become fathers and mothers, and completely change their lifebelts. How these modern women face pregnancy and postpartum in relation to sexuality? What psychological and psychosocial aspects they face during pregnancy and parenthood? What is the relationship between types of couples and sexuality, in the transition to parenthood? The proposal was to study the dimension of sexuality in the couple's passage to parenthood. The design of the research used the qualitative method of content analysis to answer the questions that guided the development of the work presented here. Interviews were conducted, three personally, three by mail, with six women from upper middle class, who have recently undergone this experience, with no significant differences between the two approaches. Regarding pregnancy and after birth sexuality, prior planning and how to deal with the interruption of sexual life emerged as important. The five interviewees belonging to the profiles of couples, (Love and Love Fellowship Toggle) where partners gave importance to sexuality, taking it as a pillar to the relationship, those parents reported that the birth of their children has transformed the marital routine, and bring then improvement to the relationship. In the profiles, where sexuality is viewed with little importance (in Fellowship Building), the arrival of the first child aggravated sexual problem of the couple, bringing individualism in opposition to individuality. There was great concern with the body related with inhibit of sexual pleasure. Therefore, it is suggested the hypothesis that the types of couples, may come to be associated with different management and sexuality in the face of parenting.
