O tear das relações entre primos na contemporaneidade

Abstract

The contemporary context is full of transformations in relation with the formation and relational interactions within a family when considering its complexity and instability, which reflects on the kinship. Lacks of information had been revealed among social sciences studies related to the behavior between cousins. Therefore, with the objective to minimize the gap within the scientific contribution and the current social reality, we have tried to describe, by using their proper experiences, how members of two different generations (parents and their children) of a given family, perceive the relations between cousins. The present study is a qualitative inquiry, with exploratory characteristics, realized in the city of Salvador (BA), with families of the middle economy class, the participants being ten cousins of five distinctive families. The data collection was realized by using the procedure of the "narrative interview", with the purpose to study mltiple-cases whose data analysis was based on three thematic categories: how is perceived the family as such, how to deal being and having cousins, alterations and changes within families.
