Atuação da enfermagem na assistência à saúde no sistema penal brasileiro

Abstract

Objective: To describe the role of the nursing team in the Brazilian prison system. Methodology: This research is an integrative literature review, through the 6 steps recommended for this type of study. Results: 11 articles, 04 from LILACS, 03 MEDLINE and 04 BDENF, of these, 08 were carried out in Brazil, in national prison units and 03 with international penitentiaries (Turkey, England and Australia). Discussion: Despite playing an extremely important role within the prison units, the nursing professional presents several challenges to achieve the performance of care, be it basic or medium and high complexity. Final Considerations: The precarious reality of the prison units are global issues, nursing professionals need more resources and better inspections of the fulfillment of the needs of the prisons that are provided for by law, in addition to several other structural improvements that are necessary for health care. quality.
