Resumo: Palliative care (PC) is fundamentally different from curative medicine in that it focuses on comprehensive care, through the prevention and control of symptoms, for all patients who face serious illnesses, with a reserved prognosis of cure. This concept applies, in fact, to the patient and his surroundings, who fall ill and suffer together - family members, caregivers and the health team. Objective: To analyze how nursing care is provided to people in palliative care, through available scientific publications. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, through articles published in the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval Online System (Medline) databases. Nursing Data (BDENF), Spanish Bibliographic Index in Health Sciences (IBECS) and National Collection of SUS Information Sources (COLECIONA SUS). Searches were carried out between April and March 2021, using pre-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: 15 articles were selected, regarding the distribution of articles by year of publication, the results showed that the years that had the highest number of publications were 2013 and 2018 with four articles each; followed by the year 2020 with three articles and the years 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2019 with one article each. Conclusion: In this context, the work aims to foster new discussions and debates that encourage new researchers to build new Brazilian research on palliative care (PC); since the theme is dense, broad and loaded with taboos and prejudices that need to be disseminated.
