Resumo: This article starts from the following research question: how did Law 13.104/2015 affect the rates of lethal violence against black women? Thus, we sought, as a general objective, to analyze the incidences of that law, based on the data presented by the 2020 Atlas of Violence. Furthermore, as specific objectives, the impacts of Law 13.104/2015 are reflected, in line with the data presented by the Atlas of Violence 2020, and it is discussed the expansion of the concept of femicide, through the lens of intersectionality. As a methodology, bibliographic review and document analysis were used (applicable legislation and data provided by IPEA). The results indicated that black women represented 68% of the total number of murdered women in Brazil, with femicide being a crime preceded by serious violations of several basic rights, an accentuated scenario in the case of black women. Thus, more effective preventive strategies must be developed, which pay attention to the different forms of oppression that women are subjected to, since black women are not in the same context of social vulnerability as white women. Thus, it is essential to broaden the concept of femicide, so that it reaches women who come from different scenarios.
