Resumo: Inside the field of Family Research in Social Sciences, this thesis discusses, by an historical-dialectical theoretical approach, the concept of patriarchy as structurant of relations, connected to representations that surpass the domestic-familiar scope and guide all other social relations above which the ways of action of a subject in the social world get instituted in a dichotomized manner. Those relations are based on hierarchical gender roles, under the perspective of a mentality of long historical length, presenting transformations that guarantee its permanence in current days. The hypothesis is that this interferes in trajectories of life, of gender, in the search of access to justice and in the confrontation of violence lived in intimate relationships. The major objective is to perceive the action of State, family and religion in the lives of women who chose to legally confront gender violence. Minor objectives are to take notice to the timing of the process, to the urgencies and to the system of care/protection; to consider the efficiency of Maria da Penha Law in those women’s lives, to visualize the manner in which has happened the action of those institutions and what are the strategies used in the maintenance of the process. The focus on Women’s Care Network (Rede de Atenção à Mulher) is done through the trajectories of five women who are victims of familiar and domestic violence – involving contexts of intimacy –, in which the temporalities foreseen in law and the real timing confronting violence are going to be analyzed. The access to this Network is done by a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews with institutional representatives as well as by narrated stories, and a quantitative approach, measuring the duration timing of Police Inquiries on the period between January and October 2017, trying to comprehend its dynamics and how it rebounds in women’s lives. Confrontation timing that urges on the daily basis of those women who resort to the Network is divergent from State’s confrontation timing in what concerns violence. As result, it is pointed out that this delay in resolution of processes and the presence of patriarchy in institutions endanger the efficiency of Maria da Penha Law, the trust in access to justice and citizenship, as well as protection and guarantee of rights.
