Resumo: Venous ulcer is a complication of chronic venous insufficiency and may arise through lesions. It affects the lower limbs and corresponds to 70% to 90% of the ulcers. Due to the complexity of the treatment, there is a need for technical skill, specific knowledge and the nurse is the professional qualified to guarantee a quality assistance. OBJECTIVE: To identify the care provided by the nurse to a person with venous ulcer. METHODOLOGY: This is an integrative review of the literature of publications available in the Latin American Literature in Health Chronicles (Lilacs), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and Database of Nursing (BDENF), descriptive- qualitative. RESULTS: Nurse who possesses scientific technical knowledge has an important role in the care of the patient with venous ulcer, since it is the professional who is close to the patient in all stages of the study. assistance from diagnosis to improvement of the clinical picture. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Nursing care, performed in a systematic manner performed with quality and responsibility, plays an important role in the outcome of venous ulcer therapy, which, together with adherence to the treatment by the patient, contributes significantly to the improvement of the wound.
