O papel das doulas na assistência ao parto humanizado

Abstract

The doula offers support during pregnancy, labor and postpartum, but its performance gains prominence in the continuous support offered during the intrapartum period. The performance of doulas influences the progression of labor and good maternal and perinatal outcomes. Objective: To analyze the role of doulas in childbirth care in a normal birth center in salvador-Bahia. Method: This is a field research, through a qualitative approach of descriptive character. Held in a normal delivery center, located in Salvador. Doulas were interviewed. Results: For the organization of the results emerged three categories of analysis: Being doula: influences and motivations; The role of doulas: continuous intrapartum support and doulas practices in a normal delivery center. Conclusion: The role of doulas in childbirth care in an NPC is to give all the necessary physical and emotional support to the woman child, making the woman feel welcomed throughout the labor period.
