Resumo: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute demyelinating inflammatory polyneuropathy that affects the peripheral nerves, with normally reversible manifestations. Characterized by pain, ascending symmetrical paralysis with progressive limb weakness. Its incidence is one to two cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Pain is the first and foremost symptom, ranging from moderate to severe and can last up to 2 years. The pain in GBS has aroused interest of the scholars, since it directly affects the quality of life of the patients. Objective: To gather the studies that investigated the use of non-pharmacological therapeutic resources in the control of pain in patients with GBS. Material and Method: It is a review of narrative literature, with a search carried out in the BIREME, SCIELO and PUBMED database in the Portuguese and English languages, that the keywords were in the title or abstract, published between 1990 and 2019. In the database were found 210, through reading the title and abstract excluded articles, 82 did not address pain in GBS, 15 were duplicate, 38 were review, 62 reported only pharmacological resources. After the first selection, reading the full text and excluding 10 other articles, 3 did not clarify which therapeutic resource was used and 7 referred to the nursing care in GBS. Clinical trials, case studies or reports of experiences investigating pain relief in GBS were included. Excluded from the research articles that used only pharmacological resources, which did not clarify what therapeutic resources used. As a result, 3 articles can be collected that demonstrated that non-pharmacological therapeutic resources are viable and favorable for pain relief in patients with GBS. Further studies with better methodological quality and the use of other non-pharmacological therapies for pain relief in this population, such as: acupuncture, neuromodulation, reik, and music therapy
