O benefício de prestação continuada e o idoso no brasil: longevidade e suas implicações

Abstract

Based on the fact that the extension of life or longevity is a worldwide phenomenon, the present work, looking at the current panorama of the intensification of economic inequalities as a trigger for critical deficits of citizenship and the extreme complexity of social problems, debates about the relevance of the continued provision benefit for the elderly in the face of the evident implosive tendency of social policies as a right of citizenship. Our objective is to problematize that, in spite of existing, public policies and the current legislation directed to the elderly in Brazil need efficacy of ability to face the aggregate demand to the growing and, quite heterogeneous, population aging. It is concluded, due to the importance and fundamentality of maintenance and even expansion, of the aforementioned welfare benefit, as an expressive instrumental apparatus for the dignity of the elderly under-insured, as well as for the necessary revision of the age restrictions brought through the Organic Law of Social Assistance (LOAS), by disciplining the Continuous Benefit Benefit (BPC), aiming at ending the existing age differences in social benefits, since, in addition to not complying with the provisions of the Elderly Statute, they also do not take into account the objectified by the Constitution in regard to the purpose of the benefit, which lies in extending social protection to those who need it, promoting well-being and social justice.
