Resumo: The concept of beauty has been changing over the years. As for the physical aesthetic model, the beautiful is standardized from the principles of humanity due to socio-cultural aspects. Society is already marked by body patterns that define what it is to be beautiful and the media has its role in influencing body image building. Objective: To show the influence of the media in relation to the construction of the female body image. Methodology: Research of character of integrative review of literature. According to the research was found a total of 378 articles, preselected 38 articles for a better reading, after the selection were excluded 24 articles for not meeting the inclusion criteria and thus totaling 14 articles, plus two books in the Brazilian literature . Results: The studies showed that the media has a direct influence on the construction of the female body image, being able to act negatively, with changing customs, language and destroying with the identity of the woman. Final Thoughts: The study revealed that the media is not harmful, but it depends on how the individual assimilates the transmitted messages and thus correctly uses the information to construct the body image
