Resumo: | The identification and diagnosis of puerperal infections is clinical and is based on the symptoms and signs that the patient presents, with the appearance of symptoms of general decline, fever, abdominal pain that tends to worsen on touch or palpation and the softened uterus. Objective: to analyze the main risk factors for puerperal infection. Methodology: This is an integrative review with a qualitative approach, conducted in the first semester of 2019, based on articles on risk factors for puerperal infection researched in the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) database, the Scientific Eetronic Library online (SciELO) and the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE). Results: The studies analyzed identified clinical characteristics that are the main risk factors for puerperal infection, including cesarean section, premature rupture of membranes, infections during pregnancy and invasive procedures. Final considerations: The study showed that the identification of risk factors for puerperal infection is fundamental for the implementation of infection prevention and control measures, consequently, positively impacting the reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality |
