The notification of an AE event can contribute to the awareness of its magnitude, enabling the implementation of prior strategies to prevent avoidable errors in order to ensure patient’s safety and the quality of care provided. Objective: To analyse the occurrence of Adverse Events in Hospitals located in the state of Bahia/Brazil, in between the years of 2015 and 2016. Methods: This is a descriptive, exploratory study, based on data obtained from the Health Surveillance Notification System (NOTIVISA). The study population comprises of patients having adverse events related to health care in Hospitals located in the state of Bahia/Brazil in between the year of 2015 and 2016. Results: In 2015, it was noted that 57 cases of AE were reported, amongst (54,3%) were men’s, against 515 cases in 2016 with a majority of women (51,2%). In the year of 2015, the age group from 18 to 65 years old represented (42,1%) with an increase to( 45,8%) in 2016. Among the AE reported, the pressure ulcer prevailed with (52,7%) in 2015 and 19,6% in 2016, followed by the falls of patients with( 33,4% ) in 2015 and (19,6%) in 2016. The highest frequency was classified as light damage with (40,3%) in 2015 and (75,9%) in 2016. Conclusion: As a consequence, there is a need to raise the professional’s awareness to the importance of an effective notification and promotion of actions to improve and minimize the risks to the patients and, consequently, reduce unnecessary expenditures for the treatment of events that could be avoided.
