Item A construção ferroviária em uma cidade atlântica chamada Salvador: dilemas socioeconômicos na freguesia suburbana de Nossa Senhora do Ó de Paripe 1850-1870(Universidade Católica do Salvador, 2021-02-15) Angelo, Carlos Augusto Fiuza; Martins, Luciana Conceição de Almeida; http://lattes.cnpq.brThis article is an unfolding of the research I have been doing since 2015 on the historic suburban parish of Nossa Senhora do Ó de Paripe. Region that was during the colonial period a pulsating heart of sugar production and currently corresponds to the main neighborhoods in the suburb of the city of Salvador. In this journey, however, we noticed the lack of historiographical productions about an important region for the construction of Bahia's history. Therefore, this study deals with the implementation of the railway in the parish of Paripe between 1850-1870, under the lens of Social and Public History, in order to develop a Weblog for interaction and dissemination of historical knowledge. For this, we will anchor the arguments based on bibliographies and documentary corpus.Item Por entre fotos e nomes: a criminalidade na perspectiva dos jornais de Salvador (1910-1915)(Universidade Católica do Salvador, 2021-02-15) Sepúlveda, Patrick Moraes; Martins, Luciana Conceição de Almeida; http://lattes.cnpq.brThis article seeks to understand the newspapers' perspectives on crime and how the spread of the news was concerned with influencing Salvadoran social relations, with a view to maintaining social order. Thus, the objective is to highlight the importance of Cosme de Farias in the literacy process of poor Bahians during the old Republic. The methodology adopted is based on a literature review of the literature, with a qualitative approach and descriptive character, based on a theoretical survey of authors who address the topic under study. Thus, it is understood that it is undeniable the importance of Cosme de Farias as one of the main promoters of the improvements and possible eradication of illiteracy in Salvador, in the beginning of the 20th century. It is also important to note that the data in relation to the control of illiteracy through the ABC letter method applied in the Old Republic in Salvador show alterations in the illiteracy rates of most of the children under 7 to 11 years old at school age.Item Olhares sobre o cangaço (1930-1990)(Universidade Católica do Salvador, 2021-05-13) Dias, Natália Góes; Oliveira, Renata Soraya Bahia de; http://lattes.cnpq.brIn this study analysis of publications about cangaço and the phenomenon of northeastern banditry was made, taking into account the role of cangaço and the relationships of dialogues, controls and tensions raised by authors who dedicated themselves to the study of the theme in the period from 1930 to 1980. At the beginning of the Estado Novo, while the ideals that inspired the reformists was to transform Brazil into a progressive, modern and unitary society, the hinterland was left to shells of political chiefs and cangaceiros who represented a danger to the project of a nation that came into force when Getulio Vargas was in power. In the twentieth century, the authors, mostly from the Northeast region, more concentrated in the states of: Ceará, Sergipe and Pernambuco, dedicate themselves to examining the different policies, using sources that go through decades demonstrating the power and alliances in the games of interests between the Government and “cangaceiros”, with Lamp being the leader of the gang. It is interesting to note that the repercussion on Cangaço has been discussed intensely by historians and although Lamp' s group has been defeated by the authorities and the remainder have been fragmented by different regions of Brazil, the figure and greatness of the man we expand the analysis to the phenomenon of social banditry and its dynamics.
