It is a therapy that aims to reduce the degree of sensitization and consequently the tissue inflammation characteristic of RA, a recommendation that should be based on some main aspects such as the proof of allergic sensitization mediated by IgE, relevance of allergy in the triggering of patient's symptoms and availability of standardized allergen extract for the treatment. OBJECTIVES: To identify which benefits are possible in RA pathology, with the use of specific immunotherapy in patients. METHODOLOGY: This is a bibliographical research with a qualitative approach presented descriptively comparing the convergences and divergences between the authors searched in the databases LILACS (Latin American Literature) in health chronicles, SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library) online and collection of the library of the UCSAL in the period from 2007 to 2017. RESULTS: the results sought to identify the specific immunotherapy system in patients diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, mechanisms of action and immunization, and especially the immunization response of the patient to the treatment. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Immunotherapy combined with environmental hygiene measures has been affirmed by several authors as the only therapeutic strategy capable of modifying the evolution of allergic pathology, with beneficial effects.
