Obstructive pulmonary diseases, such as asthma, cause changes in respiratory mechanics, directly interfering with body posture. Objective: To perform a literature review on the changes in the posture of asthmatic people. Methods: The searches were performed in the MEDLINE, SciELO, LILACS and SCIENCE DIRECT databases, type of studies: transversal. Using the keywords: asthma, posture and postural changes and their correspondents in English. Results: The studies found evidenced postural alterations present in the adult phase, and insignificant or nonexistent alterations in childhood. Final considerations:Multiprofessional attention in asthma is of great importance for clinical and functional treatment, with physiotherapy acting on postural corrections. It is possible to analyze, from the studies found, that the changes in posture are insignificant or nonexistent in childhood, however, it is present in the adult phasebringing considerable changes to the posture.
