Material and methods: This is a literature review. The identification of the articles was performed through bibliographic search in the Scielo and Pubmed databases, from 2010 to 2018. Results: Systemic lupus erythematosus can impair pregnancy, causing results with a higher prevalence of gestational complications such as SLE activity, pre-eclampsia, thyroiditis, and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. Concluding Remarks: Knowing the SLE, its clinical manifestations, diagnosis, besides preventing complications, guarantees a successful pregnancy.
