Such conditions may be attributed to the presence of other comorbidities and to the intrinsic characteristics of the patient, such as age, thus establishing a serious public health problem. Objective: To understand the performance of the PHC nurse in the care and prevention of chronic wounds. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review study. For the survey of the articles were searched through databases specialized in the area of health being: PubMed and Virtual Library in health (VHL). Results: We selected 12 articles published from 2008 to 2018. The results were categorized in: The importance of primary health care for the care and prevention of chronic wounds; The knowledge of nurses in the prevention and care of chronic wounds.
