Among the professionals that are involved with the use of these technologies we find the nursing professionals. At first the consequences of radiation exposure were unknown, but it may be related to diseases such as thyroid cancer, leukemia, and cataracts. Faced with this, there is a concern with the health of nursing professionals who work in the diagnostic imaging sectors. This is a bibliographic review study that aimed to identify areas of nursing action focused on ionizing radiation; to identify the protection practices used by nursing professionals in the area of action and to make professionals aware of the importance of protection against exposure to radiation. Nursing professionals are present in sectors where there is exposure to radiation such as conventional radiology, radiotherapy, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. However, their lack of knowledge about the risks of ionizing radi-ation causes them to expose themselves exaggeratedly to radiation. It can be con-sidered that investing in information to these professionals is the best way to leave them protected.
