The theme was developed through the methodology of documentary and bibliographic research as well as examination of scientific articles, seeking to analyze the central aspects of the institute of adoption and sponsorship. The interview was used as an instrument for data collection. The topics mentioned will be addressed by observing the national legislation, including the Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988, the Statute of Children and Adolescents (Law 8,069, of July 13, 1990)as well as the doctrinal provisions by means of a systematic analysis of the literature correlated to the matter, thus reaching the conclusion as to the possibility of the sponsoring becoming an adoption.
