Item Relações familiares e políticas sociais: o caso do Serviço de Proteção e Atendimento Integral à Família - PAIF(Universidade Católica do Salvador, 2019-08-26) Dias, Marcelo Couto; Prandini, Riccardo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Petrini, Giancarlo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Cavalcanti, Thaís Novaes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Carvalho, Inaiá Maria Moreira de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Santa Bárbara Júnior, Camilo Antonio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Ramalho, José Rodorval; http://lattes.cnpq.br/The dynamics of family relations and social policy interventions on the family are two relevant phenomena in current Brazilian society. Between these phenomena there is a complex interaction. On the one hand, social policy-making processes have indicated the need to reconsider the role of the family in protecting individuals, giving rise to a range of services, programs and projects that focus on family ties or that establish the family as a partner for the achievement of their goals. On the other hand, much research has discussed changes in the family and the impact of these changes on the well-being of people and society. Among the social policy interventions on the family, the Service of Protection and Integral Care to the Family (PAIF), which is considered the cornerstone of the 'new' social assistance policy, has been highlighted in recent years. Thus, the objective of this research is to evaluate the way family relationships are considered in the proposal and implementation of the Service of Protection and Integral Care to the Family (PAIF), through official documents and reports of professionals who work in it. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study, more specifically a case study, which analyzed the official publications about PAIF and the report of 8 professionals who perform this service in the city of Salvador-Ba . The results indicate that the family, understood as a relationship of full reciprocity between the sexes and the generations, represents a resource for the well-being of people and society as a whole and that interventions on families should focus on the creation and regeneration of the family social capital. Regarding PAIF, it was found that, both in the official publications about the Service, and in the report of the professionals responsible for the execution, family ties are generally considered as affective and solidarity ties between people who live together, without recognition of the specificity and social value of marital, parenting and intergenerational relations. In addition, the focus of actions is more on access to rights than on promoting the quality of family and community relations.
