OBJECTIVE: Describing the presence of handicapped people in college institutions. METHODS: It is an ecological survey held in Brazilian territory using data obtained with the access to information from the area of inclusive college education, provided by the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira INEP , from 2011 to 2018.The analyzed variables were as follow: amount of offered openings to handicapped people, amount of handicapped students enrolled in college institutions and amount of college institutions in Brazil. RESULTS: In 2011 there were 2.365 College Institutions in Brazil, in 2017 there were already 2.448, with the data collecting it was possible to realize that the amount of these institutions has been increasing around 2% to 3% each year. From January 2012 to December 2018 there was a registration of 224.894 handicapped students enrolled in college institutions, with a higher prevalence of students in the Southeast region corresponding to 84.634 (37.6%), followed by the Northeast region with 39.524 students(17,5%), the Middle west region was the one with the lowest registration during the evaluated six years with 21.774 (9.6%) students; from the 47.730.000 openings offered, 21,22% were directed to handicapped people in the last seven years. CONCLUSION: In Brazil the discourse of education for all has been slowly growing even in a precarious way . it was possible to see that even with the growing number of college institutions and consequently the increase in the quantity of openings offered to handicapped students, the amount of them doesn't fulfill all the offered openings. The law requires that the teaching institutions make adaptations for an inclusive policy: at first the selection process has to comply with all the difficulties presented by the students for the entrance examination as well as to promote capacitation for the teachers, to invest in technological resources, guides interpreters among others and thus eliminate barriers which make it difficult the access and permanence of handicapped students in college education.Item Recursos terapêuticos não farmacológicos no alívio da dor em pacientes com Síndrome de Guillain-Barré: revisão de literatura(Universidade Católica do Salvador, 2019-06-07) Falcão, Letícia Silva; Freitas, Juliana Viana; lattes.cnpq.br; Fonseca, Erika Pedreira da; lattes.cnpq.br; Brito, Eliana Sales; lattes.cnpq.brGuillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute demyelinating inflammatory polyneuropathy that affects the peripheral nerves, with normally reversible manifestations. Characterized by pain, ascending symmetrical paralysis with progressive limb weakness. Its incidence is one to two cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Pain is the first and foremost symptom, ranging from moderate to severe and can last up to 2 years. The pain in GBS has aroused interest of the scholars, since it directly affects the quality of life of the patients. Objective: To gather the studies that investigated the use of non-pharmacological therapeutic resources in the control of pain in patients with GBS. Material and Method: It is a review of narrative literature, with a search carried out in the BIREME, SCIELO and PUBMED database in the Portuguese and English languages, that the keywords were in the title or abstract, published between 1990 and 2019. In the database were found 210, through reading the title and abstract excluded articles, 82 did not address pain in GBS, 15 were duplicate, 38 were review, 62 reported only pharmacological resources. After the first selection, reading the full text and excluding 10 other articles, 3 did not clarify which therapeutic resource was used and 7 referred to the nursing care in GBS. Clinical trials, case studies or reports of experiences investigating pain relief in GBS were included. Excluded from the research articles that used only pharmacological resources, which did not clarify what therapeutic resources used. As a result, 3 articles can be collected that demonstrated that non-pharmacological therapeutic resources are viable and favorable for pain relief in patients with GBS. Further studies with better methodological quality and the use of other non-pharmacological therapies for pain relief in this population, such as: acupuncture, neuromodulation, reik, and music therapyItem As redes sociais de indivíduos com tetraplegia: mudanças e permanências(Universidade Catolica de Salvador, 2014-04-25) Freitas, Juliana Viana; Costa, Lívia Alessandra Fialho da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0710584663045726; Maia, Helena Maria Silveira Fraga; Iriart, Mirela Figueiredo Santos; Rabinovich, Elaine PedreiraThe present study aims, on the one hand, to analyze the composition and recomposition of social networks of chronic quadriplegic individuals after spinal cord injury acquired and, on the other hand, mapping the tensions and paradoxes that emerge from the situation of complete dependence on the help of other people to ensure their survival. The research falls into the field of qualitative research and follows an interdisciplinary model of analysis. The research participants were four people with quadriplegia attended in a Physiotherapy Clinic-school in the city of Salvador, Bahia, and also the main caregiver of each one of them, totaling eight interviewees. The study included patients with secondary quadriplegia to spinal cord injury and classified as ASIA A; that had at least one year of injury. All the "cases" analyzed are male, aged over 18. It was excluded from the study those whose spinal cord injury would be of congenital origin, perinatal or even acquired in childhood. In regard to the caregivers, those were elected based on the analysis of the narrative of the people with quadriplegia, through the identification of those who take the biggest share of the activities and responsibilities relating to their care. The swab was guided by an ethnographic posture and the data were obtained based on the biographical narratives of the selected individuals and through interviews guided by semi-structured scripts prepared by the researchers. The analysis of the changes and continuities of social support networks of quadriplegic patients performed in this study proved to be an important methodological path and that allowed a better understanding of the dynamics of care in situations of high dependence. It was evident that the presence of a social network, even if emptied and fragile, is instrumental in the adoption of positive coping strategies of quadriplegia, which does not exclude the need to seek the development of strategies aimed at the 'normalization' of these networks, which, by increasing the size and diversity of the bonds, could provide less burdensome to caregivers and greater possibilities of social participation for people with quadriplegia. It’s undisputed the importance of a bigger presence of the State on supporting these families, as well as the sensitization of society in a way to accept and not to reject the diversity resulting from disability
