    Hemotherapy is a treatment performed through blood transfusion, its blood components and blood products. It is an invasive procedure of high complexity, with important epidemiological risk, since several diseases can be transmitted by the blood. Despite this, the same, is widely used in many acute and chronic situations and can save lives. Objective: To analyze the national production of the last ten years on nursing care in blood transfusion. Methodology: Narrative review of the literature, whose descriptors are the terms: Nursing care, blood transfusion, hemotherapy service, was performed through the scientific articles published in the Virtual Health Library (VHL). Used as inclusion criteria were the studies available in full, which included the proposed theme, in Portuguese, published in the period 2006-2016. Results: 26 articles were found in the VHL published between 2006 and 2016, of which eleven were excluded for duplicity and two were not part of the purpose of the study in the databases. A total of 13 articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria for analysis. Conclusion: The importance of nurses from donor uptake to blood transfusion, nursing care in hemotherapy and hemotransfusion in patients' lives is also verified, as well as the performance and ongoing education in the area of hemotherapy, between health professionals and staff multi-professional.
