    This article analyzes the (in)efficiency of the protective measures provided for in the Maria da Penha Law, to prevent the crime of femicide. It briefly discusses the history of domestic violence against women and also the origin of Law 11.340/2006. It elaborates some considerations about research data related to domestic violence, and the effectiveness of protective measures. It analyzes the protective measures that oblige the aggressor and highlights the importance of creating mechanisms to implement the measures created and granted by the Judiciary, which must also prepare to assist the victims, through investment in public policies that seek to protect women victims of domestic violence, as well as preventing and eradicating femicide.
