    self myofascial release consists of a type of massage that uses body weight to release the fascia with the use of objects, in this case, the foam rollig, the region benefit from the technique receives greater blood supply extends the fascia and translates improves flexibility. Objective: to evaluate and discuss the literature on the effectiveness of myofascial release about the flexibility of the football players, with the use of the foam roller. Materials and methods: a systematic review based on the PEDro scale. PubMed platform was used as a tool to search for articles that cover the self myofascial release about the flexibility of the football players. Results: two articles met the criteria for inclusion. With foam rolling technique was evaluated in acute form in the range of motion of the hip and knee of footballers and acute and chronic form compared to eccentric exercise on flexibility and strength of the Plantar flexors, getting bigger results for the acute form in both polls. Conclusion: the pros and coaches will have a greater support of acute and chronic form when used facial abrasion techniques and eccentric training during pre season to flexibility gains
