    Nuclear Medicine refers to a specialty that has as main characteristic the use of emitters of ionizing radiation in the non-sealed form. The nurse in Nuclear Medicine has the responsibilities of planning, organizing, supervising, performing and evaluating all nursing activities in clients submitted to ionizing radiation, based on nursing care methodology. OBJECTIVE: To describe the role of the nursing professional in nuclear medicine permeating the investigation of the relevance of the nurse in nuclear medicine. METHODOLOGY: It is a bibliographical research from the perspective of the qualitative approach. RESULTS: After the survey and the previous reading of the titles and abstracts, of the 30 articles, of these 23 were disregarded for not being directly related to the research theme. Seven articles address the purpose of the research. CONCLUSION: The work of the nurse in Nuclear Medicine must be based on up-to-date scientific knowledge and appropriate technique in order to achieve the desired clinical result and promote safety and customer satisfaction
