This work aims to identify and understand the dynamics and conflicts of the tenements in the Old Center of Salvador at different times. We will seek to understand the current conflicts of tenements in the Old Center, the construction of their invisibility and the process of “erasing” the tenement nomenclature in the memory of the population. However, this type of popular housing still persists in memory in another way, its physical existence is linked to less exclusive and stigmatized names. The work proposes a look at the current reality of these dwellings, favoring a reflection on the dynamics and performance of the different public and private agents, which has been producing sectorization, segregation to meet their own interests. The choice of the research object is due to the need to give visibility to the topic of tenements in the city of Salvador, since the subject has been little studied in recent years.
