(Universidade Catolica de Salvador, 2019-12-06) Santos, Joelma Souza; Almeida, Daniele Santos de; lattes.cnpq.br; Reis, Flávia Prazeres; lattes.cnpq.br; Leal, Maria Auxiliadora Carteado; lattes.cnpq.br
Stress is a reaction of the body to certain stressors. It may appear at any time in life, interfering with the individual's physical and mental state. Emergency is an environment favorable to the appearance of stress due to its functional characteristics. Objective: To analyze the scientific production regarding factors that trigger stress in nurses who work in the adult emergency units. Methodology: The present study is a review of the literature, through articles in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (Lilacs) and Virtual Health Library (VHL). Results: The articles related to the subject of Stress in Nurses in the Adult Emergency Unit presented variations in the years of publication. In the year 2013, three articles were analyzed; one in 2014; six in 2015; three in 2016; and three in the year 2017. In 2015 there was a growing increase in interest in the subject. Final considerations: It is concluded that stress is present in nurses' life in emergency units, due to the different factors experienced. The stress-triggering factors are related to the institutional context, such as insufficient professional staffing, high patient demand, lack of resources to perform work and overload of work.
