    Parentalidade irresponsável e desobrigação alimentar a pais idosos: relativização aos princípios da solidariedade e reciprocidade familiar

    This present study has the purpose to demonstrate the possibility of the withdrawal of financial support to elderly parents through the relativization of the principle of solidarity and reciprocity in cases where the parents didn't accomplish the parental responsibility. The right to financial support to elderly parents is legally guaranteed by the Constitution, Civil Code and the Statute of the Elderly. Through the analysis of some case laws, it was identified that most judges decide to remove the obligation of financial support for the elderly in cases where parental irresponsibility is configured, such as abandonment, forfeiture of the family power, and the practice of unworthy acts.
