The use of the Internet has been increasingly used as a source of research and means of communication when the subject is health. However, with greater attention, it is perceived that the implementation of the Internet has strengthened the duty to inform by the professional and encouraged the search for a new behavior in the face of the emergence of a new patient profile: cyberchondriacs. Thus, the objective o f this study was to align the developments of the Internet in the doctor-patient relationship, addressing the potential risks of adherence to self-treatment in the face of the contents available in health portals, and determine the main ways of adapting the professional to the information disseminated on the website. Regarding the quality of the information disseminated in the virtual environment, it is essential to standardize the medical publication and the adequacy of sites that have information about health. When using a scientific standard or certification seal by a regulatory authority, there are ways to guarantee to the individual that this virtual page is reliable and has credibility.
