Transplantation means the last vital continuity for some individuals, so waiting time is one of the barriers that has been growing in Brazil, with this there is a need for the growth of this number of donations, which is a challenge for society itself. Objective: Identify and understand the challenges in Brazilian awareness of organ donation. Methodology: This is an exploratory-descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, carried out on a documentary basis, operationalized as an integrative review of the literature. Results: Regarding the source of publication of the selected articles, two articles were obtained by international journals, being published in: Saud J. Kidney Transplant and Basknet University Publisher; the other journals were national, and four articles were published in: Arquivo Catarinense Medicina (ACM), Revista Bioética, Texto & Contexto Enfermagem and Caderno Saúde Coletiva. The established languages of the articles were: four in Portuguese and two in English. The countries of origin of these studies were: one in Nigeria, one in Malaysia, and the other four in Brazil. Final Considerations: It is noted that there is a main refusal of the family and the population itself, since they do not have enough knowledge about organ donation and the whole process that involves it.
