Abstract
The present dissertation denominate: San Francisco Station: reconstructing
and valuing the urban memory of Alagoinhas, approaches the station as a historical
mark for the development of the city in the 19th century and the requalification of its
original structure and surroundings with the objective of creating a space that serves
a diverse audience for socio-educational activities.
The buildings that compose the San Francisco Station are denominated a
passenger station that is in disuse and abandoned and a merchandise station that is
being used but without the correct maintenance, so the structure is deteriorating over
the years. So in this context, with the abandonment of part of the building and
consequent deterioration, the proposal for this area involves the requalification of the
structure seeking to intervene in the old buildings, relating to the surroundings and
the new structure, showing the historical and cultural importance of the São Francisco
Station for the city and the preservation of the urban memory that exists, with the
ultimate goal of relating two distinct centuries in a modern and living structure so that
the entire population can frequent the place.
