The population was composed of all individuals who were notified and confirmed with congenital syphilis in the state of Bahia, from 2007 to 2013. Relative frequencies of the following variables were calculated: sex, race / color, prenatal Diagnosis, final classification of cases and evolution of cases. Results: The study evidenced that in the state of Bahia, 2,290 cases of congenital syphilis were reported in SINAN in the period 2007 to 2013. It was observed that mothers of children diagnosed with congenital syphilis, 59.5% , 35.1% had a diagnosis during prenatal care, and more than 90% were classified as recent congenital syphilis. Conclusion: There is a significant increase in cases of congenital syphilis in the period 2007 to 2012, indicating the need to plan and implement actions and strategies aimed at reducing cases of the disease in the state of Bahia.
