Os efeitos terapêuticos do Elagolix e Danazol no tratamento de dor associado a endometriose

Abstract

Endometriosis is a chronic, estrogen-dependent inflammatory condition that affects 6 to 10% of women of reproductive age. This article aims to clearly explain the pathogenesis of endometriosis, presenting and comparing the effects of the chosen drugs, Elagolix and Danazol, used as therapeutic measures for endometriosis-related pain. The information for this study was obtained by searching for articles in Portuguese and English in the Scielo, Pubmed and Medline databases, using as criteria those published within a maximum period of 20 years. In conclusion, although Danazol is one of the oldest and most used standard treatments for endometriosis, Elagolix, the new drug, is not only effective in the treatment, but also has fewer adverse effects.
