Abstract
This article starts from the research question: How do the repercussions of extensive
cattle ranching in the Cerrado violate socio-biodiversity rights? Thus, the general objective is
to analyze how the expansion of cattle ranching in this biome infringes the rights of socio-
biodiversity. The specific objectives are to identify the relationship between data on the
degradation of Cerrado vegetation and livestock; analyze the violations of socio-biodiversity
rights resulting from this activity and reflect on the ways in which socio-biodiversity rights are
realized from the experience of local people. For this discussion, the bibliographic review and
documentary analysis was adopted as a methodology, in order to verify the current development
of cattle raising in the concrete scenario. The results show that the accelerated and predatory
growth of livestock has contributed to the deterritorialization of traditional communities and
loss of ancestral knowledge, directly reflecting on the conservation of the Cerrado's
biodiversity. As a result, popular movements rise as mechanisms of resistance to the
appropriation of environmental resources in the biome.
