Abstract

The present study deals with international trafficking in persons for the purpose of sexual exploitation, which is, today, one of the most serious forms of violation of human dignity, is a real phenomenon, and presents itself in a multidisciplinary and complex way. The methodology used was literature review, document analysis and data reports. This article starts from the research question: how effective are the public policies implemented by Brazil in combating international human trafficking? The general objective was to discuss the effectiveness of the Palermo Protocol. The following specific objectives were outlined: to analyze the importance of the Palermo Protocol; discuss the form of confrontation adopted by Brazil in the fight against international human trafficking. As main results, it was identified that there were great advances in Brazilian legislation and National coping plans were created, however, they are still not enough to curb crime.
