Abstract
In the last decades the prevalence of chronic diseases has increased, due
to the increase in longevity. On the other hand the technological advances have favored the
development of new therapies with the objective of extending the limits of life. In the beginning,
death was consummated in the patients' homes, where the family took full care of this, but with
the transition of the health services supply, this care was transferred to the professionals, being
relevant the preparation of these for the treatment of terminal patients OBJECTIVE: To
analyze the national literature of the last seven years on nursing care for patients in palliative
care. METHODOLOGY: Integrative literature review, carried out through a research in the
Virtual Health Library (VHL) and developed with the databases MEDLINE, Latin American
and Caribbean Literature in health sciences ( And, BDENF. The inclusion criteria were fulltext
articles, published between 2010 and 2017. RESULTS: Three categories of analysis
emerged: "Feelings of nursing professionals towards the care of the terminal patient" ; "Training
and preparation of the nursing team for palliative care" and "Practical aspects of palliative care".
12 articles were selected from a total of 106. CONCLUSION: The research made it possible
