Item Perfil epidemiológico dos acidentes escorpiônicos no município de Salvador, Bahia, 2008 a 2017(Universidade Católica do Salvador, 2019-06-03) Souza, Manuela Santos; Nascimento, Davi da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br; Nascimento, Davi da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br; Silva, Tamires Lima da; http://lattes.cnpq.br; Carmo, Rosana Cardoso do; http://lattes.cnpq.brBrazil is a tropical country with a high incidence of scorpions in some regions. People stung by scorpions have severe signs and symptoms. Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of scorpionic accidents in the city of Salvador-Bahia from 2008 to 2017. Methodology: This is an ecological study, a descriptive character type based on the data reported and confirmed of scorpionic accidents in the System of Reporting of Notifiable Injuries (SINAN). Secondary data obtained from the SINAN Information System from 2008 to 2017, available on the DATASUS website, were used. The area of study was the Municipality of Salvador / Bahia, located in the Northeast region of Brazil. Results: During the period from 2008 to 2017, 520 accidents related to scorpions were reported. These occurred predominantly in the hot and rainy months, with the age group between 20-39 years being the most relevant (41.4%), followed by 40-64 years of age (31.0%). In addition, it should be noted that the majority of patients received care in less than three hours (67.4%). The results also revealed that 94.4% evolved to a mild condition. Finally, it was observed that the evolution of the cases showed, in the majority, outcomes related to cure in 93.7% of the cases. Conclusion: The data collected in this study indicate that the strategies for caring for individuals affected by scorpion bite are satisfactory. However, actions to prevent this type of accident must be increased and also help in future work to be carried out on the subject matter
