Abstract

Falconry has been practiced by mankind for many years throughout history, including birds that can capture prey through specific techniques of killing in the air or on land. In Brazil this activity has been growing gradually over the years, thus bringing relevance to the conservation of birds of prey present in our country. This article brings us a quantitative and qualitative research of birds used by falconry companies in the national territory, seeking to identify the relevance and the reason why certain species are present so often and in quantity in most of these institutions. Parabuteo unicinctus stands out among the marked birds and the main reason for this highlight is its behavioral and social characteristics.
