Abstract

Burnout syndrome is a disease caused by a long period of exposure to chronic stress linked to overworking of physical and mental exhaustive work. Due to the pres-sures of the companies on the employees, demands, collections, low salaries among others. OBJECTIVE: To identify the risk factors that lead nursing professionals to initiate Burnout Syndrome, in addition to recognizing the symptoms and consequences of the syn-drome.METHODOLOGY: It is a literature review, of the integrative type, and of a descrip-tive character. Were used publications available in the databases in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), electronics of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Database of Nurs-ing (BDENF) and Index Psychology - Technical-scientific journals (INDEXPSI). The follow-ing descriptors were used in health sciences (DeCS) : Professional Exhaustion. Nursing Pro-fessionals and Nurses We found 13 articles in Portuguese, original, published between 2012 and 2017 that met the research objective. RESULTS: It was observed that the lack of experi-ence, autonomy, pressures, high demand of the sector among other problems found in the in-stitution can be a trigger for the development of Burnout Syndrome, especially in newly formed nurses and unprepared nursing staff, before all problems encountered in the environ-ment as lack of organization of the environment. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: It is noticed that there are still few studies on Burnout Syndrome, and that most of the studies carried out show that the risk factors are related to the environment and to the professional, and before all time exposed to the chronic factors begins to appear symptoms of the disease and the lack of time, do not seek to take care of health, which the Chronicity of Syndrome would bring years irreparable future.
