Abstract
This article comes from the research question: which extent of school evasion at public state high schools in the city of Salvador is influenced by institutional racism? The main objective is to answer that question. Thus, the specific objectives are describing the legal protection (1988 Federal Constitution, infraconstitutional laws and doctrine) against racial discrimination in Brazil, with a focus on equal access to education, as well as reflecting on school evasion in high school in the geographical scope from document analysis. As a methodology, it covers bibliographic review and document analysis. The conclusion is that the results point to the influence of institutional racism on evasion at public state high schools in the capital of Bahia.
