The methodology adopted for the study was based on bibliographical research on historical data on childbirth, ethnic-social issues, health statistics and legal bases that support and support the points of analysis. After a narrative review on the subject under discussion and its intercurrences and circumstances, it was found that a consensus and awareness about the meaning of obstetric violence is necessary, since the fact occurs, but it is not always proven in the law form. Concerning this situation, a change in the training of health professionals is considered of paramount importance in order to encourage the adoption of more humanized practices aimed at reducing physical and psychological injuries experienced by vulnerable women, thus guaranteeing the respect for human rights in its broadest form and effective legal intervention in violation of the law.
