Item Transformações socioespaciais do bairro de Itacaranha a partir da abertura da Avenida Afrânio Peixoto em Salvador - BA(Universidade Católica do Salvador, 2017-04-06) Pinto, Jeremias Pereira; Alencar, Cristina Maria Macêdo de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2257876241055037; Vasconcelos, Pedro de Almeida; Lage, Cleuza SantosThis dissertation entitled Socio-spatial Transformations of the Itacaranha neighborhood from the opening of the Afrânio Peixoto Avenue has the main objective to analyze socio-spatial transformations in the district of Itacaranha resulting from the opening of Afrânio Peixoto Avenue, from 1970 to the present day, in order to understand the conditions of habitability and possibilities of improvement for the residents of the neighborhood. It was established as a main hypothesis that the emergence and population densification of the district of Itacaranha are linked to interventions in the infrastructure of the city of Salvador, specifically the transformations that intensified from the 1970s, specifically the opening of Afrânio Peixoto Avenue, better known like Suburban Avenue. The qualitative approach and techniques of in loco research (focus group, application of questionnaire and bibliographical and documentary research) were adopted. The theoretical bases approached the concepts of city, suburb, periphery and neighborhood. It was observed, through the field visits, that the district of Itacaranha is not a homogeneous space, although they have similarities. In the three sectors (Sector 1 - old, Sector 2 - middle and Sector 3 - recent), it was observed that there are similarities and differences regarding infrastructure deficiencies, such as lack of asphalt cover, garbage, public transportation, education and leisure equipment. The analyzes of the conversations with the local inhabitants, the sources of documentary and photographic information proved the initial hypothesis that the opening of Afrânio Peixoto Avenue brought significant transformations to the district of Itacaranha, which formed only by villages, traditional communities of fishermen and vacationers to become a densely occupied neighborhood, also moved by the transformations in space, by the installation of in the most diverse segments: mechanical workshops, construction material, fuel, etc.
